why do people choose to be single?

They say being single is a choice, well for me it's true. I can say it from my own personal experience. Sometimes people are not ready they have more priorities in life than to have a love life. Some are afraid to love again to the point they don't trust anyone. they think that everyone who will show them interest and love will fool them. People do this because they don't want to be hurt again and its hard for them to trust.But in the end for me all people wants to love and be loved at the same time. Some are people say that they are happy being single for me its a defense mechanism because at the end of the day they still feel the emptiness and they still longing for someone to love.
